Vehicle Listing Description

For sale 914 Porsche 2.0 L 1974

I love this car, it runs (engine, starter, carburetors) great! But it mostly collects dust and waits for my love. It could use someone to fix it up and love it.

It recently got a new starter motor and a battery. It has never had problems passing emissions. Everything is mechanical in it, and so is super fun to tune and work with.

It is the more rare 2.0 L version of this car, which was only made for two years. This car has made it over the hump and is now actually appreciating in value (see multiple blogs and forums for Porsche 914). I would keep it but my wife doesn't like it taking up space.

That being said there is a lot of work/love that can be had.

Interior leather is ripped and torn in places. The speedometer doesn't work at all. The cable broke opening the driver's side door from the outside (a simple repair). The convertible top latch has been bent - I think a set of backyard pliers could easily get it in shape. Typical rust - but very little compared to other 914's. The front hood and light is still not painted after I replaced it, due to a 15 mph run in with a deer (see the pictures). the front rubber bumper needs to be replaced ($200 part). There is still some fender damage due to the deer. The throttle/gas cable to the engine needs to be greased (works but doesn't respond on a snap). There are chips in the paint, and one spot where the paint wants to chip off.

It is a great starter fix-up car. It is fun to drive and does turn heads. Modifications: after market high performance muffler (pretty loud) and air filters (K&N), the old fuel injection has been replaced with carbs. There is an after market fuel pump. It has always started great, and is tuned very well. The heater works comparable to typical 914 standards. This car was maintained by Ed Andrews in Salt Lake City, who worked for Porsche and now owns his own shop.

Happy driving.
